Wednesday, October 1, 2014 - Amsterdam, The Netherlands - Day 7

We slept late again since we are staying in Amsterdam today.  We had our coffee and headed out to catch the tram to go to the Amsterdam Hermitage Museum.  On the way I tried to take another perspective of the building across from the hotel that is falling both forward and sideways.  The pictures just don't do it justice!  Believe me, it is seriously falling!!!!

We took the tram across town to the Hermitage Amsterdam Museum - associated with the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.  The Hermitage Museum had a display of "Dinner with the Tzars".  It featured china that were owned by the Tzars in Russia.  Very elaborate.  Didn't realize the Tzars lived it up like this!
Elaborate table with a beautiful gold plateau in the middle

Then we took the tram to the south to the Heineken Experience.  We took the tour and it was interesting.  Got to taste a lot of beer and enjoy the "experience".

After our tour of Heineken, we returned to the hotel and changed for dinner.  I called Long Pura and got us reservations for 7:30 pm.  We walked there and enjoyed a different route.  This time at Long Pura we ordered from the menu and had vegetarian spring rolls and chicken sate to start, and then fish in banana leaves and spicy pork for main course.  We had a fried banana with ice cream for dessert.  We had a Chilean pinot noir for wine and it was the darkest pinot we have ever seen but very good.

We had a good walk back to the hotel and finished packing and went to bed early since we have to get up early to leave Amsterdam.  A wonderful visit to a great city.  Now on to our safari adventure.
